Psychosocial impacts on health workers: narratives 10 years after the disaster

Abstract The article aims to understand the psychosocial impacts experienced by health workers after a disaster situation in state of Santa Catarina Southern region Brazil. To that end, qualitative study multiple cases and narrative interviews with professionals from mental services, primary care, municipal managers Itajaí, Blumenau, Rio do Sul was carried out. analysis narratives followed steps Fritz Schütze method. on work respondents, directly and/or indirectly affected natural happened 2008 region, subsequent events lesser intensity, were described. In three perceived similarly, although consequences event network faced differently each location. results reveal importance promoting at developing personal skills, resilience face adverse situations, need for continuing constant education.
